Yeni senenin ilk büyük ödül töreni olan 81. Altın Küre Ödül Töreni tv ve beyaz perdede geride kalan yılı kutlamak için yapımcılar ve oyuncuları Beverly Hills, California’daki Beverly Hilton otelinde bir araya getirdi. Hollywood, ABD Yazarlar Birliği (WGA) ve Beyazperde Oyuncuları Birliği – Amerikan Tv ve Radyo Sanatçıları Federasyonu (SAG-AFTRA) grevleriyle senenin büyük bölümünde yapımların durduğu sıkıntılı bir 12 ay geçirse de gene de bazı keyifli filmler ve diziler ekranlarımıza gelmeye devam etmişti.
Greta Gertwig’in Barbie’si toplam 10 adaylık biriktirerek bu alanda zirvede yer alırken, beyaz perde filmleri içinde en oldukca ödül toplayan ise benzer dönemlerde gösterime giren ve Barbie‘yle enteresan bir rekabet yaşayan Oppenheimer oldu. Christopher Nolan’ın yönettiği film, sekiz adaylıktan beş ödül çıkarmayı başardı. Anatomy of a Fall, Barbie, The Holdovers ve Poor Things ise gecede ikişer ödüle layık görüldü.
Succession, The Bear, Beef ve The Last of Us benzer biçimde sevilen programlar ise tv kategorilerini doldurdu. Succession 4 ödülle diziler içinde gecenin kazananı oldu. Succession’ı 3’er ödülle The Bear ve Beef takip etti.
